Need Help Upgrading for Loved Ones?

As Baby Boomers get older, they may need to upgrade their homes to make their lives easier… and safer.   Sometimes family members help out by caring for their aging parents in their own homes and may need to renovate or upgrade some parts of their home to accommodate them.   Or perhaps an illness or disease limits a loved one in their own home.  There are many ways to make a home suit your needs from full renovations to simply adding safety devices.

We’re here to help.

First, check your local community, regional or provincial websites to see if they offer any grants, rebates or tax credits for home improvements.  As one example, the provincial government is currently offering the Ontario Healthy Homes Tax Renovation Credit.  This is a refundable tax credit for seniors 65 and older and family members who live with them.

If you qualify for the Ontario Healthy Homes Renovation Tax Credit, you can claim up to $10,000 worth of eligible home improvements on your tax return. The amount of money you may get back for these expenses is calculated as 15% of the eligible expenses you claim.

The Ontario Healthy Homes Renovation Tax Credit can help with the costs of improving safety and accessibility in your home. For further information please call 1-866-ONT-TAXS (668-8297) or go to:  http://www.ontario.ca/page/healthy-homes-renovation-tax-credit

There are also programs like OESP and LEAP to help with energy costs for low income families.  For information, please visit:  ontarioenergyboard.ca .  And be sure to check online regularly to take advantage of any new programs being offered.

If you’re in need of making your home safer, or just in need of changes, give us a call at 1-888-458-1979 to set up appointment today.
