On Being Green

Being green is about respecting our environment and putting into action ways to preserve our planet's resources.

By providing green products and services to our clients along with conservation of our resources, we at Plumb Perfect strive to do our part in helping our environment.

In The Beginning...

Like many of you, we began going "green" years before the Blue Box program by re-using and recycling what we could. We switched to energy efficient lighting when it was still in its infancy. Where we could, we refused to purchase products from manufacturers that either polluted our land and water or over-packaged their products.  We encouraged those companies to become more responsible.  We re-used, reduced and recycled.  And that was only the beginning.

From Then To Now...

As part of our "green" commitment we offer the following environmental products:  Bio-Clean, Water Efficient Toilets, Faucets and Showerheads, Tankless Hot Water Heaters and Solar Hot Water Heaters.

Plumb Perfect continues to learn about how to do more for our health and our environment.  We believe in doing our small part by:

  • Recycling all kinds of plumbing fixtures and parts including hot water tanks, toilets, faucets, old brass, metal and copper fittings and piping, which literally saves tons of waste from ending up in our landfills
  • Using natural cleaning products at our office and in our homes including all of our uniforms
  • Reducing office paper by 40%
  • Cleaning fixtures, parts, vehicles and our office with recycled materials
  • Providing a natural and safe drain cleaning product to reduce caustic chemicals from going into our water supply and our homes
  • Reducing our heating and cooling by 20%
  • Maintaining our vehicles to lower emissions; recycling oil and tires
  • Recommending and installing water efficient toilets, shower heads, faucets, etc.
  • Refusing to use chemical lawn fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides
  • Recycling plastics and paper products and reducing or reusing as many materials as possible
  • Giving back to the community by supporting programs such as Habitat for Humanity, Adopt-a-Road program and Salvation Army
  • Green Screened Certified (Click on Linda Gray for details)

The Next Step...

  • Plumb Perfect will be planting trees to offset carbon emissions and to help the United Nations "Billion Tree Campaign" reach its g oal of planting one billion trees in 2009.
  • We will investigate alternate forms of energy such as geothermal, solar, wind and BullfrogTM.
  • More energy efficient and water saving water heaters, showerheads and faucets will be researched and made available.
  • Our gasoline service vans have been replaced by diesel Sprinter vans to make the switch to biodiesel.  Not just biodiesel, but our very own biodiesel refined from used restaurant oil.  It's a win-win-win situation for the restaurants, for our company and, most importantly, for the environment.  The plans have been drawn and the buildi ng of the system is about to begin in spring 2009.  More on that at a later date...
  • We will continue educating ourselves on ways to truly "go green".
